"New York Forward" The plan to reopen New York

The plan to reopen New York has been named, "New York Forward." The main focus is getting people back to work and easing social isolation, without restarting the spread of the virus. Business owners have a responsibility to implement processes to lower the risk of infection in the workplace.

Businesses will be required to submit plans for keeping workers and customers safe under the state reopening guideline. Here are some of the priorities that will need to be included in their plan, before any business or industry reopens:

1. Protect their employees and customers:

This includes enacting social distancing protocols, possibly adjusting workplace hours to reduce density and restricting non-essential travel for their employees.

2. Implement changes to the physical workspace:

Requiring all employees and customers to wear masks and following the CDC's strict guidelines for cleaning and sanitation.

3. Execute a plan that meets our changing public health obligations:

Screening all employees when they report to work. Putting a notice at the entry of their business to alert employees and customers, if there are any known confirmed cases after opening for business.

The primary focus is on cleaning and disinfecting all businesses and public spaces and that will require you to:

  • Develop a plan
  • Implement a plan
  • Maintain and revise your plan

The main goal is to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19, which requires cleaning with an EPA-approved disinfectant.

SERVPRO of Upper East Side is here to help you be ready to reopen. We are specialists in cleaning services, and we adhere to the highest cleaning and sanitation standards. The CDC recommends usage of a labeled hospital-grade disinfectant with claims against similar pathogens to the coronavirus. Multiple products in the SERVPRO product line carry the EPA-approved emerging pathogens claims. While there is currently no product tested against this particular strain of the coronavirus, we are following all guidelines as provided by the CDC and local authorities. Our crew also wear appropriate PPE for cleaning and disinfecting.
